Zac Soede U9 Zone Swimming Champion 2015
Zac Soede U9 Zone Swimming Champion 2015
Zac was Age Champion for school (Green Point Christian College or GPCC) and zone (The Hunter and Central Coast Christian Schools Association or THACCCSA) last year, and has been training hard - 3 x swimming squad sessions on Monday, Thursday & Friday mornings - so we were hopeful of a repeat performance in 2015. We weren't disappointed! Here are his swims from GPCC (bottom) and THACCCSA (top):

Zone THACCCSA Swimming Carnival 24/2/2015

Zac qualified for 7 events (100m & 50m free, 50m back, breast & fly, 4 x 50m Medley and Freestyle Relays) and swam his heart out. He's still only 8 years old but turning 9 this year, so swims in the U9 races except 100m free & relays which are U10 events - he's also small for his age but makes up for it with technique and competitiveness :) He has great stamina and usually comes home very strongly so we always feel if he is in striking distance his strong finish and sheer will to win will get him home. Zac won the U9 free & butterfly with new PB's, and came 3rd in the 100m free (against all 10 year olds so should blitz it next year!) and 3rd or 4th in the back and breast - these results gained him the Zone Age Championship and he'll be off to State again which is a great result. Unfortunately at State he runs into the next generation of thorpedos who are just unbelievable swimmers so he's unlikely to progres, but we're obviously very proud of his achievements.

Here's Zac's Zone U10 100m freestyle race & new PB (GPCC red / black cap lane 5):

School GPCC Swimming Carnival 5/2/2015

Zac smashed his Personal Bests (PB's) in every race and won every U9 event except breaststroke (2nd) so he won the Age Champion again and also we'll be off to Zone again in 2 weeks. Here are the videos:

Here's Zac's House (Breakers) 4x50m relay race - a minute before this race all other relay swimmers broke the start except Zac, then the starter buzzed the starting sound so Zac dived in, the starter buzzed it again but Zac didn't hear (nor did the other swimmers) so the starter dropped the "false start" rope but whilst it stopped the other swimmers it didn't drop across lane 8 properly so Zac swam 45 metres at a sprint before realising / hearing the stop message, then had to go straight back and race again. He's a machine!
