Our good friend from Whistler, Masako, who lives in Nagoya, came all the way to Tokyo to catch up with us yesterday.  Since we wanted to talk in peace (without Zac disturbing us too much), we decided to go to Ueno Zoo.  It’s a different zoo which is in the centre of Tokyo – and had few different animals you don’t see at Tama zoo. Unfortunately, my camera stopped working half way, and I don’t have a photo of Masako, but Masako’s camera has got a photo of all 3 of us, so I should be able to upload it as soon as she sends it to me J

This photo was taken at the entrance of the zoo.  I don’t think Zac was too keen on sitting with the strangers . . .

Panda is a main attraction at Ueno Zoo.  It has been for years, and I remember coming here to line up just to see a panda!!  Apparently, current one is well known for having its back against the spectator.  I think side way is pretty lucky.

For some reason, Zac decided that this rabbit was pretty attractive.  Or he was asking the rabbit to give up its carrot – as he loves his carrots!!

These emus were producing so many eggs!  I’ve never seen eggs actually sitting there with emus inside of the cage!!

2nd Tama Zoo visit PDF Print E-mail

It normally is a playgroup day today, but I decided to take Zac back to Tama Zoo again, as it was going to be such a beautiful day, and it turned out that way J  It was nice and warm – 15 Celsius.  I will include some photos from zoo, but just like last time, you will see some more in the future – when there is nothing else to report!

This big elephant is sitting at the entrance of the zoo.  I didn’t even realize it last time, but Zac pointed it out this time J

Last time, the elephants were African ones, but this one was Asian.  A bit smaller, and the ears are heaps smaller.  This poor elephant was all by itself, and it was dancing, spraying itself, and then putting the dirt and gravels on itself.  Yes . . . we did spend fair bit of time in front of it, as Zac decided to eat his sandwich at the morning tea time!!!

Zac had good exercise running up and down the stairs, pushing the pram and chasing pigeons J  He fell asleep on the bus on the way home – and I even managed to transfer him on to pram and he kept sleeping even though I had to pay and get off the bus before I could put him in it.  He must have been very tired, as he woke up around 5:30am this morning!  (He doesn’t normally wake up until about 7am.)

Dogs & Cats World PDF Print E-mail

It was such a beautiful day today – so we went to this thing called “Dogs & Cats World”.  It exists only about 20 min. drive from home – which is not too bad, but since no one in my family likes animals, they haven’t been there and didn’t know what it was going to be like.

To be honest, it was quite boring.  I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.  First of all, you have to pay more than Tama Zoo for entry, and once you get inside, you will have to pay more for each of the attraction – which wasn’t that interesting anyway.  We only went to the free ones, which was to be able to pat the dogs & cats, but Zac wasn’t too keen anyway . . .  I think he would rather go to the zoo and look at animals from safe distance J

This one was taken at the doggy patting section.  It was a mission – to have Zac on my lap when the dog was there!!

He was literally running away from them – that’s why he is blurry!

He wasn’t too keen on going inside of this dog’s mouth either. . . but I succeeded in tricking him J

At the exit, this HUGE dog was just sitting at the cashier.  He would jump up on the counter to get some nibbles, and he would be as tall as me!!

We went to playgroup again . . . and yes . . . you will have to put up with some more photos of zoo again J

I didn’t think Zac would find horses interesting – as he sees Gypsy everyday!!

This rhino didn’t have a horn.  I wonder why?  Is it safer for the carer?  Or do they fall off in between seasons like deers?  Does anyone know?

Zac spent about 15 min. in front of these flamingos . . . I don’t understand what’s so interesting about them!!

Unfortunately this emu turned around away from us as I was waiting for Zac to turn around and look at the camera!!  Really hard to control two creatures at the same time . . .

It was soooo windy yesterday, we decided to stay home – so here is some more photos from the zoo.  We should be going back to the zoo again soon – then you will have more photos from the zoo!!!  (Those of you who don’t like animals . . . must be sick of them by now already!)

In the zoo, there is old buses just sitting in few different spots – for kids to climb on, or take photos of, or both!  Zac even pretend drove it J

Zac is still very small amongst preschool children . . .

I’m not sure whether he realised this is a fake panda . . .

Shopping Day PDF Print E-mail

We went to Yokohama Bayside Arena with Genki, Ayaka and their father Hideaki yesterday.  It’s basically just like the DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) – a shopping centre full of outlet stores.  Clothing was pretty cheap – especially the winter items, which is very handy for me, as Australia is heading into winter soon J  Got some long sleeve shirts for Zac & myself for 40 – 70% off.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos again, so no photo of Genki, Ayaka & Hideaki . . . maybe next time!!

Zac is getting very good at eating with spoon and drinking out of glass.  These days, he eats rice or whatever in a bowl with spoon all by himself (sometimes with chopsticks!).  He didn't used to like the crust part of bread - but it's his favourite bit now - just like his mum!!

He actually enjoys drinking out of glass rather than his bottle . . . I suppose once he gets used to it, it’s less frustrating J
